APARTMENT ONE

This apartment, intended for a visual artist and her lawyer husband, is located in the Barn Lofts. The three-story, open-plan townhouse winds up through three ascending floors, amply accommodating a home office downstairs, with living and bedroom quarters on upper subsequent levels.

MEZZANINE OVERVIEW The industrial aesthetic of this newly converted DTLA building was tempered and softened by ideas inherited from jewelry makers. Hence the quartz chandelier from Christopher Boots, an in-house amethyst accent light, pressed sheets
STAIRWELL To expose and feature the existing edifice, the interior was selectively stripped of drywall and other materials. Finished detailing was added where needed.
POWDER ROOM Powder room with existing Fornasetti wall paper and custom-made “Thought Mirror.”
LIVING ROOM Living room area: Ellsworth Kelly and Rauschenberg artworks.
KITCHEN View of kitchen area. Existing cabinetry was refinished, new hardware added, while some cabinets were paneled with pressed mica. Painting one corner black helped to offset a spatial anomaly.
HALLWAY Custom-made bookcase and newly installed industrial fire door from Cleveland Art, DTLA
PANTRY Pantry was added with panels of pressed mica assembled in a geometric pattern. Sun Valley Bronze hardware was installed.
