“Being at home or in a home away from home: unHeim marks the spot.” — Paul Foss

UNHEIM is the complete design studio

UNHEIM inverts the banality of modern living. Where there is prestige, there is purpose and practicality, and where there is the mundane, there is mystery and enchantment. Whatever the design, whether cloister or condominium, your home deserves to be the pearl in the oyster.

Our aim is to help clients realize their dream projects by overseeing everything from beginning to end—from planning the basic concept all the way through choosing the right lighting, designing custom-made furniture, and installing specialty outdoor environments. Establishing an amiable working environment is our number-one concern.

Your project will be considered on a case-by-case basis, whether you want to employ us as a consultant, take a more collaborative approach, or leave it to us to arrive at the perfect solution. Whatever the assignment, we welcome input at every step in the process. Our priority is to assist you in fashioning your own unique look and identity.

MICAH HEIMLICH graduated from the Department of Architecture at Clemson University, South Carolina, in 1998. After relocating to Los Angeles the same year, he worked in the Culver City studio of architect Eric Owen Moss, the Beverly Hills office of landscape architect Dan Busbin, and then the Laurel Canyon office of the interior designer Paul Fortune before setting up his own company, unHeim. His work also extends to furniture design, private residences, commercial properties, and what he terms “usable sculpture.”

UnHeim is a multidisciplinary design studio working across residential design, interior design, landscape design, environmental design, furnishings, lighting, material innovation, and original product development. We create custom homes, hospitality environments, wellness spaces, outdoor living environments, and bespoke interior experiences.

Our work extends beyond interiors to include custom furniture, lighting, architectural materials, art objects, and patented design products. Through our affiliated design house, Furbishure, we develop original furnishings, collectible design objects, material systems, and innovative products that bring the principles of unHeim into everyday life.

Rather than treating buildings, interiors, furnishings, and products as separate disciplines, we approach every project as a unified design experience. From conceptual planning and spatial design to custom lighting, furniture, materials, and landscape elements, each component is considered as part of a larger whole.

Services include residential design, interior design, landscape design, hospitality design, wellness design, environmental design, custom furnishings, lighting design, material development, product design, design consulting, and project coordination.

Through HŌM Developments, unHeim participates in the creation of next-generation living environments integrating wellness technologies, artificial intelligence, automation, sustainability, and human-centered design. These projects explore how architecture, technology, and environmental systems can work together to create healthier, more responsive homes and communities.
